Seven’s Family Race Day Preview – 6 May 2024 New

Date: 06-May-2024

A big crowd is expected on track Monday for Seven’s Family Race Day.

A beautiful autumn day has been forecast for the public holiday which will be perfect for racing and festivities off the track. The rail returns to the true position.

There’s free entry, free rides and even free tips for all seven races to help you find a winner!

Race 1 - 12:32PM SEVEN FAMILY RACEDAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (800 METRES)

8 Encrypted Elegance

The training partnership of O’Dea and Hoysted has pulled the right rein in dropping Encrypted Elegance back to 800m.

The daughter of Encryption led by several lengths over 1100m here on debut but stopped with 100m to go like she was shot and was run down to finish a head second.

She again weakened at her next start when taking on 1100m at Doomben.

Emily Lang, who claims 1.5kg, can use the filly’s natural speed to find the front and hopefully go all the way.

Selections: 8-6-3-11

Race 2 - 1:12PM SCHWEPPES Maiden Plate (1666 METRES)

11 Autumn Miss

Autumn Miss returned in great order over 1350m at Doomben last start.

The Annabel Neasham-trained three-year-old filly found the line well to finish second to Velozes with Jonny Da Wolf third.

The form from that race has been good with two subsequent winners including Jonny Da Wolf who bolted in by over six lengths here two weeks ago.

She’ll strip fitter second-up, appreciate the rise in distance and should enjoy a nice run for Damien Thornton.

Her main danger is Apfel, who was 1.2 lengths behind her last start and looked to want further.

Selections: 11-10-4-14

Race 3 - 1:47PM RIVER 94.9FM QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1350 METRES)

6 Walsh Bay

Readers of our previews would have been cheering when we tipped Walsh Bay on debut over 1100m here last start.

The Chris Munce-trained daughter of Deep Field let down powerfully once she got on the right leg to storm home for a neck win at a good price.

She will be much better on a drier surface and will appreciate the rise in distance second-up.

From barrier 3, Justin Huxtable should be able to settle in a prominent position.

Selections: 6-1-10-2

Race 4 - 2:27PM IMPERIAL RACING BENCHMARK 72 Handicap (2150 METRES)

2 Shezadandi

Shezadandi will appreciate the drop in class after a top effort to finish third in a Benchmark 78 Handicap at Eagle Farm last start.

The Jason Patton-trained mare was backed into favourite and did well to run on in restricted room to finish 1.8 lengths behind Tapildoodledo in the 2400m contest.

She has a good record at the track and did win her only previous start over this course and distance.

Despite being down in class, she will still only carry 55kg with Kyle Wilson-Taylor in the saddle.

Selections: 2-17-1-9

Race 5 - 3:04PM TAB Class 6 Handicap (1100 METRES)

5 Roll Up

Roll Up finished 3.8 lengths eighth over 1200m at Eagle Farm last start but was caught deep and the saddle also slipped.

The Kelly Schweida-trained son of Zoustar will appreciate returning to Ipswich given he is undefeated in four starts at the track.

Two starts ago he controlled the race over this course and distance before proving too strong late to win by a neck.

Jimmy Orman has built a great relationship with the gelding and remains in the saddle.

Selections: 5-3-11-4

Race 6 - 3:42PM SEVEN NEWS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap (1666 METRES)

5 Dulcet

Time and time again, we’ve seen Chris Waller-trained horses successfully come north and turn their form around against easier opposition.

That will hopefully be the case with Dulcet.

The three-year-old gelding has been freshened since finishing 4.1 lengths sixth at Kembla Grange in a stronger race than this.

He races well fresh and did win over this distance at Sale to break his maiden status.

In a positive sign, Waller has engaged his go to man, Jimmy Orman to ride from the good gate.

Selections: 5-7-4-15

Race 7 - 4:17PM TAB IPSWICH CUP 22 JUNE Class 1 Handicap (1200 METRES)

3 Adranos

Adranos broke through for his maiden victory at start number three at Doomben two weeks ago.

The Tony Gollan-trained gelding enjoyed a nice run before letting down strongly to get up in the shadows of the post to win the 1110m contest by a nose.

He defeated Taltarni Fields that day and that horse then won its next start here easily.

He’s at peak fitness now and the rise to 1200m looks ideal.

Selections: 3-9-1-4
